China-friendly mirror (cn.improject.org). YouTube may fail on some mainland networks — other resources still work. Global site

Mainland mobile carriers often block or throttle Cloudflare Workers. Reliable phone access needs China CDN (e.g. EdgeOne) and ICP备案 — this mirror is not yet listed on beian.miit.gov.cn.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

International Maths Project ("IM Project", "we", "us") runs improject.org, an educational maths site for students and teachers (IGCSE, A Level, IB, and lower secondary). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how advertising works on free pages, and how you can control cookies and personalised ads. The site is operated by David Lamb.

1. Information we collect

  • Account details. If you create an account we store your email address, display name, role (student / teacher), and optional year group or age band so we can tailor practice. Authentication is provided by Supabase. Signed-in users may opt in to a weekly catalogue digest; we do not email guests or send marketing without opt-in.
  • Messages you send us. Contact and help forms collect the name, optional reply email, organisation, topic, and message you submit so we can respond. We do not publish your personal email on the site.
  • Usage and technical data. Like most websites, our hosting and security layers may process IP address, browser type, device or network signals, request timestamps, and pages visited. Cloudflare (our host and CDN) may process this as part of delivering and protecting the site.
  • Learning activity (signed-in). When you are signed in we may store practice attempts, revision preferences, mark-book entries, resource ratings, and AI-generation quota usage linked to your account so features work across devices.
  • Payment metadata. Paid plans and AI quota top-ups are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment status and related account identifiers; we do not store full card numbers on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and browser storage so the site remembers preferences and sessions. Examples include:

  • im_guest — optional guest browse session (about 24 hours) so student/teacher hubs work without an account. Guests cannot use AI generation or school-gated papers.
  • im_lang and im_syllabus — language and syllabus preferences.
  • improject_adfree — signed token when an ad-free / paid entitlement applies.
  • Supabase auth cookies — keep you signed in securely when you have an account.
  • localStorage — Class tools, IMPclassroom mark book / coins / tasks, and similar classroom helpers keep drafts on your device so guests and teachers can work offline in the browser. Clearing site data removes them.

Third parties (including Google for AdSense, and embeds such as YouTube or GeoGebra when you open those tools) may also set their own cookies subject to their policies.

3. Advertising and Google AdSense

On Free-tier public pages we use Google AdSense to display advertisements. This helps keep core learning tools available at no charge. Paid plans that remove ads hide these units when your entitlement is active.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google uses advertising cookies to enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to improject.org and/or other sites on the Internet.

Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

For more information about how Google uses data when you use our site, please see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising technologies. Our AdSense publisher id is ca-pub-1975626820097009.

4. Analytics

On the global site we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-oriented page-view beacon. It helps us understand which pages are used without relying on cross-site advertising cookies for that purpose. We do not currently load Google Analytics. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

5. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, and improve the learning tools
  • Authenticate accounts and enforce fair use / AI quotas
  • Respond to contact and access-help requests
  • Process payments via Stripe when you purchase a plan
  • Show AdSense ads on Free pages (as described above)
  • Send optional digests only when you have opted in

We do not sell personal data.

6. Sharing and processors

We share data only with service providers who help us run the site, such as Cloudflare (hosting / CDN / analytics), Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments), and Google (AdSense advertising). When you watch embedded videos or open interactive maths tools, those providers (for example YouTube or GeoGebra) receive the data needed to serve that content under their own policies. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and its users.

7. Students, teachers, and younger learners

IM Project is designed for school maths learning. Teachers should only enter student details they are allowed to process under their school rules. Optional age-band / year-group fields help tailor practice; they are not used to target advertising to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us via the form below and we will help review or remove it where we can.

8. Your choices

  • Adjust personalised ads at adssettings.google.com or industry opt-outs at aboutads.info.
  • Clear cookies and localStorage in your browser to reset guest sessions and on-device classroom drafts.
  • Sign out or delete / close your account by contacting us (we will help with access and password resets through the help form).
  • Upgrade to an ad-free plan when available — see Pricing.

9. Affiliate links

Some product links may include affiliate tags. See our Affiliate disclosure.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of improject.org after an update means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact

Privacy questions, data requests, or sponsorship enquiries: use the Contact form or the Help form. We reply by email; our personal address is not published on the site. Related: Terms of use.
